For larger repairs, ask whether the repair was inspected from the interior as well as the roof surface, to confirm there’s no ongoing moisture in the area that was already there before the repair.

A contractor who walks you through the repair, shows you the tested area, and explains what was done is giving you a real answer. “It should be fine now” without any of that is not the same thing as confirmation.

In practice, it’s a normal, expected part of a thorough repair process, not a special request that implies doubt about the work. A contractor who’s confident in the repair should have no issue demonstrating that it holds before considering the job complete.

This is especially worth insisting on for a repair addressing a leak that’s already had one or more failed attempts, since confirming this attempt actually worked matters more given that history.
